Today, 100 Resilient Cities kicks off the world’s first ever Chief Resilience Officer Summit. Hosted in one of the best learning laboratories for city resilience, New Orleans, Louisiana, U.S.A, this event brings together leading resilience practitioners from all over the world. We’re connecting CROs and resilience liaisons from current member cities, and experts from the private, public, and non-profit sectors so they can share learnings and insight about the practice of city resilience. We expect it to be the first of several innovative milestones in the evolution of the global city resilience practice.
One of the challenges 100 Resilient Cities addresses is the difficulty of scaling resilience solutions among cities. Bringing CROs together with other experts for this summit is one of our first efforts to activate an international network of resilience practitioners to help hare on a huge scale the lessons and best practices they learn working in their cities.
We are excited about this event for a number of reasons. This is the first summit of its kind, pulling together the world’s first Chief Resilience Officers and city resilience liaisons from about 26 cities spanning over 20 countries. Being together for the first time in the amazing city of New Orleans offers CROs a unique chance to share and learn across disciplines and from a hotbed of resilience innovation. And it is their first large scale engagement with the 100 Resilient Cities Network, which will continue to grow out of this event. The Network will support the effectiveness of our other offerings to cities—funding for a CRO for two years, access to a platform of partners, and support for a resilience strategy process—and contribute to a new way of talking about and sharing resilience lessons.
We look forward to all the innovative conversations, lessons, and moments of the first CRO summit, as well as to sharing some of the most interesting outcomes and lessons with our broader audience.
Check back in the following weeks for more about the CRO summit and the Network. And in the meantime, let us know what you would hope to see coming out of the first summit of the world’s first Chief Resilience Officers.
