Thin Lei Win reports on humanitarian, women's rights and governance issues in this fast growing region that is also one of most disaster-prone in the world.
Thin joined the Thomson Reuters Foundation in 2008 as a correspondent for Reuters AlertNet, becoming the first Foundation journalist to be based outside of London. Prior to joining AlertNet, she had lived in Vietnam and Singapore, working for various publications and covering everything from law to information technology to travel. Her work in Southeast and East Asia covers all aspects of humanitarian news from sudden onset disasters to slow burning conflicts, climate change, women’s rights, refugees and displacement, infectious diseases and governance issues. Thin has covered in detail many of the disasters and conflicts affecting the region, both in text and multimedia productions. She has a Masters in Multimedia Journalism.
