As the Human Resources business partner to our global staff, Maria is helping to build an extraordinary organization that seeks to catalyze a global movement in urban resilience by understanding and leveraging 100RC’s organizational dynamics and creating the right structures to address the challenges inherent in a geographically and functionally diverse team working in complex and changing environments. Maria is responsible for leading all elements of HR strategy design and execution, driving employee engagement, and creating a workforce with the required core functional competencies and commitment to 100RC’s work. Prior to joining 100RC, Maria was the Chief Human Resources Officer at The Atlantic Philanthropies, where she designed and implemented innovative and standard-setting human capital approaches related to the foundation’s spend-down plans, chief among them strategic workforce planning across Atlantic’s international locations to meet the needs of Atlantic’s final phase. Prior to Atlantic, Maria was the Director of Global Human Resources for Human Rights Watch, where she created HRW’s global human resources function and was responsible for meeting the strategic and operational challenges of supporting a rapidly growing and globally dispersed workforce. Following her departure from Atlantic, she held a fellowship at InsideNGO, where she provided senior-level advice in support of its 350 international humanitarian relief and development organizations.
Maria holds a B.A. from Barnard College and holds additional certifications in Non-Profit Management from Harvard, Organizational Design from Cornell, Strategic Workforce Planning from the Human Capital Institute, and International Assignment Management from the Society for Human Resources Management. She is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.
