Caroline Raes is a Program Manager for the City Resilience Delivery team based in the London office. She is working with Paris and a number of 100RC’s African cities, namely Addis Ababa, Kigali, Luxor and Nairobi. (I’m no longer working in Cape Town).
Caroline brings more than 7 years’ experience of working in the urban sector both in Europe and Africa. Before joining 100 RC, Caroline was Programme Manager – Urban for IPE Global Limited where she was responsible for overseeing business development and project management of IPE’s urban and infrastructure portfolio in Ethiopia.
Between 2012 and 2016, Caroline worked as Mobility and Transport Planner for the Paris Region Planning and Development Agency. In this capacity, she conducted significant research on sustainable transport policies and measures. Her work mainly focused on transport demand management (TDM) strategies and alternative mobility solutions.
Caroline has also closely worked with the Government of Ethiopia on a number of projects including the preparation of Ethiopia’s 2035 National Urban Development Spatial Plan (NUDSP), the Climate Compatible Urban – Industrial Development Project and Investment Plan in Ethiopia, and the evaluation of the 2003 Addis Ababa Master Plan.
She holds a MA in Urban and Regional Strategies from Sciences Po Paris and a BA in Economics from Pierre-Mendès-France University. She is fluent in English, French and Amharic.
