We would like to take this opportunity to share with you an exciting announcement: Rebuild by Design will join 100 Resilient Cities to better bring resilience, best practices, and solutions to cities around the world.
We could not be more excited for this partnership, and believe that together we will be even more effective in building urban resilience.
100 Resilient Cities will now leverage Rebuild by Design’s successful rebuilding, recovery, and resilience approach throughout its global network, which currently spans 67 cities. Rebuild by Design combines interdisciplinary design experts with community members and stakeholders when working to address the resilience challenges of cities. This new structure also combines two powerful Rockefeller Foundation funded resilience organizations, creating a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. And under the leadership and direction of 100 Resilient Cities, the Rebuild by Design effort will now impact cities around the globe.
One of the keys to building urban resilience is to take the most effective tools – tools that have worked in other places — and export them. That’s what will happen through this partnership. By joining 100 Resilient Cities, Rebuild by Design will bring the successful model developed in conjunction with U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the Hurricane Sandy region to cities around the world, carrying the resilience movement forward together in this new chapter.
We’re excited to have the opportunity to combine forces. This is a venture we’re confident will yield significant dividends in the months and years ahead – and we look forward to discovering those benefits together with our many stakeholders and friends in the resilience community.
